LURA is our first range of high quality hi-fi systems. These systems have been designed for a limpid and detailed listening, and are specific for a bright and crystal clear sound, with no distortion.
OPEN BAFFLE One of the main characteristics of our loudspeakers is the absence of an enclosure behind and of the bass reflex system. During all our research and studies and with the experience gained through endless prototypes realized over the years, we understood that the sound results more and more natural without a closed cabinet behind. But why are almost all loudspeakers built with an enclosure or bass reflex? The answer is bass efficiency: you can achieve stronger bass with less power placing a speaker into a closed cabinet, but the accuracy of sound pays the highest price of this decision. We have analyzed the bass efficiency data and created therefore a digital compensation filter that does not lose sight of the original signal. The result we obtain is bass that sounds exactly like the real one for immediate response, depth and fidelity, without resonance or booming effects. The main difference between the models in our range consists in the amount of air each system can move into the low frequencies, where the correct amount depends on the size and characteristics of the room or the listening room.
ACTIVE DRIVERS All speakers live thanks to the work of amplifiers, which move the speaker cones by enhancing even the smallest electrical audio signals. Our Systems include amplification in each speaker. While most older technology speakers require 2 channels of amplifications (left and right), LURA system optimizes the power required for each driver type and the specific job it is doing. To be more specific, DUETTO has 4 amplifiers and QUINDICI has 6. This concept is also well known as “active driver”, is common in studio recording and concert pro audio systems where precision and control are the key.
DYNAMICS Lura series speakers are built with high efficiency and sensivity drivers, features that allow a realistic listening result with amazing dynamics. Exponential horns create an immersive listening and a three-dimensional stereophony you will no longer do without.
“Phase” is a technical term that represents one of the pillars on which our work is based, and describes how sound is delayed over time. If this parameter does not reach the highest precision, as a consequence you’ll have a greatly distorted perception when listening. For this reason, it is essential that every single sound of a song does not have discrepancies in timing, so that listening is completely immersive and dynamic. In collaboration with Weiss we created aur AudioLai IL DIGITALE DSP which has innovative and smart functionality and helps precisely in this sense: like a highly advanced brain, it divides speaker sound into thousands of fractions and regulates timings for each one in order to offer to your ears the most sensational, faithful and balanced listening experience. What we have as a result, is an extremely realistic and living sound, really close to the way it comes naturally to our ears, simultaneously: the entire frequency spectrum reaches us, from very low to very high sounds, all at once.
LINEAR PHASE CROSSOVER
The path to the ideal “phase”, in order to satisfy our needs in terms of use, went through the observation and testing of “old style” crossovers, present in most hi-fi systems over the years. Passive crossovers which, by receiving the full, high-power signal directly from the amplifier and using large, reactive components (such as inductors and capacitors to split the signal), resulted in inadequate phase response, often also causing distortion and delays. Our systems use the power of AudioLai IL DIGITALE DSP (digital Signal Processing) to provide linear phase crossovers. Linear means that each driver works at his best and the cut is able to move quickly and evenly to the next driver, without creating voids in the crossover regions, but merging, connecting perfectly. The crossover cut takes place before the power amplifiers and as a result each section gains a dedicated power amplifier, connected directly to the drivers, for extraordinary precision.
ROOM CORRECTION
All this research and knowledges in the technical aspects of a high quality hi-fi systems would be in vain if the right attention was not paid to a basic and often very neglected aspect in the creation of a domestic system, that is the environment. Sound keeps moving in the room, reflects and bounces off surfaces. If sound waves are not controlled, the sound can build up to produce annoying distortion and boomy bass. We can manage these possible environmental problems with our systems, through a correction filter we have developed: each system is set in place by one of our specialists, your room will be carefully evaluated through a series of environmental measurements. The system will be adjusted to your home environment to ensure a flawless sound stage.
